Wikipedia describes a Miracle as an event
not ascribable to human power or the laws of nature. The entry goes on
to depict various events of the past and debate the reality of whether or not
divine intervention is involved, or if all extraordinary occurrences can be
reasonably explained, or are merely cheerful coincidences.
Well Wikipedia, we are here to tell you that
miracles DO happen. They are pure evidence of a loving Heavenly Father who is
intricately involved in the details of our lives. They happen all around us
every single day and they are just as real as the miracles Christ performed
while He was here on the earth. As a family we are currently witnessing the
hand of the Lord in our lives. And as a direct result of many miracles my
father is still with us today.
On Thursday, April 24th Stephen Clyde
was enjoying his favorite pastime- biking with the Logan Racing Club. They were
doing their weekly Time Trial when Stephen was hit head on by a car coming from the other direction. Their combined speed of impact was estimated between 60-75 mph. Stephen hit the
windshield of the car and flew 75 feet through the air, hit the asphalt, and
rolled into a ditch.
His son, David (Who at the last minute decided to volunteer to direct the bikers at the turn around point.) happened to be a few yards away from him and
witnessed the whole thing. When David got to him, Stephen was unconscious, and
wasn’t breathing. David undid his helmet, thinking perhaps it was restricting his
airway, but there was still no sign of life. Thankfully at this point David was able to
give his dad a Priesthood blessing. As soon as he did, he started to
breathe. David held him until the ambulance came.
Stephen was unconscious until the paramedics got there. They asked him question
after question… “What’s your name?” “What year is it?” “Who is the president of
the united states?” He couldn’t answer
any of them. However, he did remember his wife, Emily.
At this point the paramedics strapped him to a
gurney and refused to let David into the ambulance
because they didn’t think my dad would make it to the hospital.
But he did.
Not only did he make it to the hospital, but as it
turns out, he will also make a full recovery. His doctors spent hours going
over the results of his x-rays and CT scans, meticulously combing through them
for any sign of internal bleeding, brain damage, or life threatening injury…
but other than a few (quite a few) broken bones, there wasn’t anything there. They
are still trying to comprehend how he is even alive, and keep saying things like, “It doesn’t make
sense. This just doesn’t happen. There is no explanation for it. ”
We know that there is an explanation. We know that
we have witnessed many miracles, both large and small. Our loving Heavenly
Father and our Savior Jesus Christ are always there for us. They are in the
very details of our lives. Evidence of their love is all around us. We are so
grateful for your prayers- we have felt added strength and comfort from them,
and we know that they are being heard and answered. We would also ask you to
please pray for the driver of the car- We want her to feel at peace, and to
know that everything is going to be okay. We will continue to keep you updated on Stephen's progress on this blog and thank you for your love and support at this time. We love you all.
